5 Key Ways to Attract Talent to your Insurance Brokerage - Webinar Wrap-Up and Recording

ADVISR hosted Julia Cooke, Director Southern Region, at Blake Oliver for our ADVISR jobs webinar supporting businesses to attract talent during the current talent shortage in the insurance broking sector.
Below are 5 key learnings that we took away from the discussion about recruiting staff to your team as well as a full recording of the session.

5 key ways to attract talent to your insurance brokerage:

Brokerages looking to attract talent need to have a strong online brand
Candidates will google you. What comes back? Make sure your Website, Advisr profile and social media accounts are up to date and that they share something compelling of who you are as a business. This is a candidate’s first filter and an easy one to get right.

9 out of 10 candidates Blake Oliver speaks with are demanding flexibility
Lockdown has helped candidates realise that flexibility is important to them and will be from now on. This might be flexible hours, ability to work from home, rostered days off. A frank discussion can lead to a win-win.

Networks are critical for finding the best talent
What networks can you access directly? Use your network and also your staff networks, whether that’s on social media, reaching out to connections directly, or attending events and meeting new people. Don’t forget to access strategic networks like Advisr’s network of 3000 brokers or Blake Oliver’s database of thousands of potential candidates.

If you find a talent that’s a great fit and has the right attitude, bring them on
If they are not quite up to the task in terms of skills there is opportunity to provide training or internal mentoring within the business to upskill. A cultural fit and a good attitude can’t be taught!

Candidates have a lot of choice. What sets your company apart?
Knowing why your staff love working for you and having a clear picture of your company culture and what makes you different is critical in winning over a great candidate. Importantly, make sure you listen to them about what they are looking for and share honestly about how your brokerage can meet that - if the candidate is a good fit of course!
