I love experiencing new things which led me to sail 3/4 way around the world in a 38 foot aluminium mono hull yacht, from South Africa to New Zealand via Panama Canal. The journey took 14 months to complete.
I have now been out of my native country for longer than I was there, having lived 20 years in New Zealand before my employer transferred me to Perth, Australia.
The most interesting place I have lived was on Ascension Island in the South Atlantic Ocean where I worked for NASA for a short period. During the 6 years on the island, my husband and I completed the fitting out of our sailing yacht which was a bare hull and deck when we left South Africa.
I became a Prison Officer for a year during my time in New Zealand to gain a different perspective on life. I will always be grateful for the surprisingly educational lessons I learnt during this time which cannot be achieved through any other opportunity that may come my way.
Insurance has always been in my blood and I have returned to the industry whenever possible. I started at the bottom, doing domestic insurance broking, claims management and bordereaux payments. Worked my way up to include farm insurance, commercial and corporate insurance, financial lines, workers' compensation and then managed large international clients' insurance programs.
I am passionate about what I do and offer my assistance wherever possible.
